Push Europe is working on highlighting why there is no progress on emission reductions globally, in other words why are developed countries hesitant to reduce their emissions…
To see what’s behind the curtains, it’s interesting to check out what are the reasons of the lack of political willingness.
Earlier this year the Transnational Institute released some of its findings about the state of corporate power, and its social and environmental costs.
Out of all the findings, that includes the analysis of who are the global 1%, what companies do they run and how they escape accountability, this presentation below is the most relevant to the Push Europe campaign’s new focus on the influence of big business on climate and environmental decisions.
Just to highlight: out of the 10 biggest companies in the world 8 are oil and gas companies. The biggest oil companies, BP and Shell, are based in Europe, together with other oil giants Total, ENI, and Statoil just to mention a few.
This highly visual presentation shows some of the key facts, just click on it below. You can check out all the interactive infographics here.

It’s not a question that politicians listen to these giants more than ordinary people. Hang on, it’s not a question?! Who is electing politicians? Shell, BP?
Decision makers are there to take responsible and considerate decisions for the sustainability of the current and future generations. Perhaps we need to remind them, that’s why we are running the Push Europe campaign.
